Since the launch of Medical Student Neurosurgery Training Camps in 2019, we have seen tremendous growth. This is a testament to the overwhelming enthusiasm that medical students across the United States and beyond have for Neurological Surgery. 2020 Training Camps were slated to be the biggest year yet. With over a month still left before the first Training Camp was set to kick off at Keck School of Medicine of USC on March 28th, we had over 300 medical students set to attend one of the three Training Camp locations. We have heard from disappointed students that thoroughly enjoyed one of our courses in NY or LA and had signed up again this year. I share in the disappointment of the students who missed their opportunity to experience such a collegial training endeavor and of all the students and faculty who worked tirelessly throughout 2019 in preparation for the 2020 Training Camp season. In the face of this pandemic, our team is cheering on our colleagues fighting hard on the front lines. As we adapt to a new normal, Brain and Spine Group is committed to helping train the future of brain and spine care. We look forward to an even bigger and better 2021 Training Camp season that is sure to be a celebration of humanities’ resilience to such a pandemic. We invite anyone who wishes to be a part of the 2021 planning cohort to contact us: director@msnsgtrainingcamp.org Additionally, we are happy to announce the launch of Brain and Spine Group’s collaborative webinar series for medical students. The series will kick off with an interactive session focused on Clinical and Surgical Cerebrovascular Anatomy for Medical Students on May 9th. For more information and registration, visit our website: https://www.msnsgtrainingcamp.org/webinars.html Despite the unfortunate circumstances that prompted development of these new training endeavors, we are excited for the ongoing learning opportunities that are rising from the ashes of 2020’s canceled on-site courses. The launching of Brain & Spine Report and Medical Student Neurosurgery Webinars came about through the grassroots efforts of Brain and Spine Group volunteers - little (if any) of which I can personally take credit for - and is a boon for all medical students pursuing careers in neurological surgery. I applaud you all, and I look forward to meeting the next generation of rising neurosurgeons at one of the 2021 Medical Student Neurosurgery Training Camps. AuthorRyan E.
